An Eternal Legacy of Love and Opportunity
When Jerry lost his beloved wife of 50 years in 2017, he sought a way to honor her life and the dreams she was unable to fulfill. A proud graduate of Dunedin High School, Ree joined the workforce out of high school because she lacked the financial means to pursue college.
Jerry spoke with his attorney about the best way to honor Rees legacy and help others. He did not consider himself a philanthropic individual, until his attorney connected him to Pinellas Education Foundation to establish a scholarship for Dunedin High School students attending a Florida college or university. Each year, the recipient(s) receive $5,000 in scholarships, opening doors to opportunities that Ree was unable to have.
He calls it an "eternal scholarship," a lasting tribute made possible through his planned gift of his estate. With no other beneficiaries, Jerry found purpose in knowing that his wife's legacy will live on, changing the lives of students at the same high school she once attended. "It's so tremendous and helping so many children," he said.
Through his generosity, love has been transformed into opportunity, a reminder that one person's legacy can shape countless futures.
